Is the check really free?
Yes. Check up to five PDFs at a time, as often as you like, with no sign-up.
Do you keep my files?
Not from the free check: we check your files and keep no copy. If you order a repair, we keep them while we work and delete them 30 days after delivery.
What if my PDF can’t be read?
We tell you, rather than give it a false pass. A password-protected or damaged file can’t be checked; remove the password or save a fresh copy and try again.
Will a repaired PDF be compliant?
We make each page readable to our published standard and check it, and every PDF we deliver passes our free PDF check as Readable. No one can honestly certify a document as compliant, so we never call it that.
Can you make a form made for printing fillable?
Yes, as an add-on to the repair: $10 for each page with something to fill in. We add a box to type into for every blank and a check box for every printed box, each labeled with its question, and a person checks every form. Your results offer it when our check finds a form made for printing.
What if I’m not satisfied?
Tell us within 14 days of delivery and we fix it free. That covers everything we did to the PDF: how it reads with a screen reader, its picture descriptions, its form fields and the order the Tab key follows. Reply to your delivery email, or use our contact form with your order’s reference.
Will my repaired PDF be smaller?
Often, yes. Every PDF we repair comes back optimized for the web, free: photos larger than a screen needs are resized, and the file is set up so its first page opens while the rest downloads. Every tag, picture description and form field is kept, so it stays accessible. Maps, plans and charts keep their full detail, and a mostly-text PDF is already small. For printing or an archive copy, if your PDFs have photos, choose “Keep pictures at full quality” when you order. A readable PDF that needs no repair can be optimized on its own for $3, charged only if it gets at least 20% smaller.
What happens to pages that do not pass?
You are not charged for them. We tell you which pages they are and why; some documents, such as a page that is only a picture of a hand-drawn map, are better rebuilt as a web page.
How long does a repair take?
Our tools do most of the work quickly; the time allows a person to finish any page that needs judgment and to check every batch. Standard delivery is 3 to 5 business days. Rush costs 50% more, with a date set by the size of your order: the next business day for up to 100 pages, two business days for up to 300. If a rush order is late, you pay the standard rate: the difference isn’t charged. A batch order over 500 pages gets its date with the quote.
Do you send an invoice?
Yes, for every paid order: an invoice marked paid, to your billing email, with your purchase order number if you gave one.
Can you repair a large batch of PDFs?
Yes. For more than 5 PDFs or 500 pages, start a batch order: tell us about them, add the PDFs on your batch’s own private page, as files or links to where they’re published, and we reply with a quote and a delivery date. The bigger the batch, the lower the price a page, from $4.50 a standard page over 500 pages. You can pay by card, or by invoice with a purchase order.
Do you work with hospitals, companies and schools?
Yes. Please send blank forms and public documents only: no personal, health or other confidential information. We do not sign business associate agreements for health data.
Why does Chrome say my PDF is inaccessible?
Chrome says “This PDF is inaccessible” about many PDFs that have a picture in them, even well-made ones, because it offers to read the text in pictures itself. It is not a verdict on your file. Screen reader users get the best results from Adobe Acrobat Reader.
