About
About Accessible Index
A free accessibility check for any website and a public index of US government websites, run in the open by Dynamosys.
Why it exists
State and local governments have to make their websites meet WCAG 2.1 AA under the ADA’s Title II rule, the larger ones by April 2027 and the rest by April 2028. Many don’t know where they stand, and the quick fixes on offer, the overlays, don’t work. Accessible Index gives anyone a free, plain answer, and the public a dated record of how government websites measure up and whether they are improving.
Who runs it
Accessible Index is a trade name of Dynamosys Inc., a web firm in Virginia. Dynamosys builds and looks after websites and fixes accessibility problems in them.
How it pays for itself
Checking a site and the index are free. Accessible Index sells PDF repair, and each report carries one offer from Dynamosys to fix what the check finds. So Dynamosys benefits when a site needs work. We say so on every page, under our name, and keep the method public so anyone can see the scores aren’t bent. There are no ads, paid listings or sponsored rankings.
How we keep it fair
- One published method for every site, Dynamosys’s own clients and dynamosys.com included.
- Buying anything never changes a score, and a government’s page is published whether or not anyone claims it or buys anything.
- We never sell or share index data, and never publish which company runs a site or who works there.
- Anyone can dispute a result, and a person checks every dispute against the evidence.
Our commitments set these out in full.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or recommend overlays.
- We don’t certify compliance: automated checks find many problems but not all.
- We never get around a site’s block; see about our scanner.
